has anyone ever used cubase along with presonus firebox to do some home recording? just wondering if its user friendly and worth getting. I will be using a synth, bass, acoustic guitar, and some beats.

yes,
cubase is the way to go. i use it to record all my projects. as far as soundcards go the presonus firebox can be a pain. check out rme. we run apogee converters into our rme
soundcards. for a cheap soundcard i would look at maudio before presonus. only because
maudio's drivers seem more stable. wow it only took me 2 years to respond to this one. im getting better :-)
